It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since we started doing these Mystery Box Challenges. The first one in March of 2020 was actually the last video I completed before Finn was born, so I’ll never forget it. Courtney (Creative on the Cheap) has done a great job at keeping this going and I’m so thankful because these videos are my favorite
This time around, my box came from Val (Auntie Coo Coo) and I sent a box to Kelly (Kelly Barlow Creations). Val did a great job putting together this box, but boy was it random – ha! I had a great time creating decor from it. Here is the full lineup for the December 2022 Mystery Box Challenge!
THE MYSTERY BOX CHALLENGE: THE RULES
Each crafter gets a name – I got Kelly Barlow – and you go shopping for supplies to fill a box. This time around, it was an “anything goes” box. So we could shop anywhere, and spend between $20-$30 for the contents of the box. Then, typically, you add 2 items labeled as “challenge items.” Those are items that are tricky to DIY with. One hard rule is you must use the 2 challenge items somehow, but I always try to use all the items if I can.
Jennifer then sent me a box (watch the video below to see what was inside) and then I had to craft with the contents. I’m proud to report, that I was successful in all the challenges! Check out my projects below and then the full video to see how these Dollar Tree high-end dupe crafts came together. Happy crafting!
One other element that has been added to these challenges has been Courtney’s challenge she gives us each time. Normally it’s some random item we have to incorporate, but this time around, it’s a Christmas twist!
Random Acts of Kindness Challenge “Twist”
Courtney asked us all to do a Random Act of Kindness as our challenge, and I decided to give blood. As a Type O Neg blood type, my blood is in high demand and my late grandpa was a big supporter of donating if you can. So that was fitting for me. Now I want to challenge you! Download Courtney’s free printable here with ideas of what you can do as your Random Act of Kindness for Christmas 2022.
Also, be sure to head over to YouTube to enter the giveaway! And act quickly, it’s only open for one week after I post the video to give me time to get the cards out before Christmas!
Here’s a sneak peek of the projects in this video, including how to make a DIY Tiered Tray with Target Dollar Spot risers!
DIY WOOD DOLLAR TREE NATIVITY STABLE
In all seriousness, when I opened the two cross items I wasn’t sure what I was going got make. However, with a little time and thought I was able to make this DIY Dollar Tree Nativity Stable and I’ll show you how you can make one too!
Thank you for another great year of this challenge and we’ll be back in 2023!
