Hey craft buddies! It really is the most wonderful crafting time of the year. This season, we’re keeping things simple, cozy, and totally doable—projects you can start now so December is all about cocoa, twinkle lights, and actually enjoying your home.

The Big Idea: Craft Early, Enjoy Longer
Holiday projects don’t have to be complicated to look high-end. By starting now, you can:
- Stretch your budget with clever dupes and thrift flips
- Pace yourself (no last-minute stress)
- Style as you go—then tweak once the décor is up
- Have extras on hand for gifts, swaps, and craft fairs

Theme-First, Project-Second
Instead of locking into one specific tutorial, think in themes. Pick a lane (or two) and repeat it across rooms for a pulled-together look.
Modern Metallics
Elevate basics with soft, brushed metallic finishes and simple black or velvet accents. A tiny bit of sheen goes a long way and mixes beautifully with neutrals you already own.
Gingerbread Everything
From ornaments to garlands and signs, “iced” details instantly say Christmas. Keep the palette warm and bakery-inspired (think caramel, cream, and a pop of peppermint red).
Nostalgic + Vintage
Mix in classic silhouettes—skates, sleds, simple wreaths, and old-world frames. A little patina (or faux-patina) makes even new pieces feel storied.
Cozy Cabin
Lean into natural woods, simple shapes, and warm stains. Layer greenery, bows, and twine for that “winter lodge” moment that lasts through January.

Easy Win Categories (Pick 1–2 and Repeat)
Ornaments with Texture
Focus on finish, not fuss: soft metallics, velvet ribbon, hand-drawn “icing,” or subtle brush textures. Keep shapes simple; let the surface be the star.
Frames & Art
Swap in seasonal prints or textures. Matte finishes, subtle brush strokes, or faux “impasto” add that boutique feel without the price tag.
Small Wreaths, Big Impact
A mini wreath + a good ribbon instantly dresses cabinets, chairs, mirrors, and shelves. Consistency is key—use the same ribbon across spaces.
Tiered Trays & Vignettes
Build little “moments” using a few repeated elements—one texture, one greenery, one accent shape. Vary height, keep color tight, and stop before it feels crowded.
Thrift-Flipped Staples
Pitchers, vases, and candleholders transform fast with fresh finishes. Look for great shapes; you can always change the color or sheen.

Kid-Friendly (& Boredom-Buster) Ideas
Keep a small “craft cart” ready: blank shapes to decorate, markers/paint pens, ribbon scraps, tags, and faux candies. These quick makes are perfect for the holiday break and won’t wreck your schedule (or your dining table).
Styling Principles That Never Fail
- Repeat, don’t match. Use one ribbon style or metal tone across the house for cohesion.
- Layer textures. Velvet + matte paint + natural wood = instant richness.
- Vary scale. A couple of oversized moments (art, bows, or greenery) make everything else feel intentional.
- Mind the finish. Matte and satin finishes read “high-end” on camera and in person.
- Edit once. After you set it all up, remove one thing from each vignette—space lets your favorites shine.
Make It Yours (Without Reinventing the Wheel)
- Use my Free File Library to print banners, tags, and art that fit your color scheme.
- Personalize a few key pieces—add names to stockings or gift toppers, customize a simple sign, or update last year’s décor with this year’s palette.
- Shop your house first. Move pieces between rooms and give them new life with a different finish or ribbon.
Smart December Prep (Future-You Will Cheer)
- Snap quick photos of each setup before you pack away décor. Next year, you’ll redecorate in half the time.
- Box by vignette. Keep a small card on top with what room it belongs to and a thumbnail photo.
- Note the gaps. As you decorate, list items you wish you had (sizes, colors) so you can watch for sales all year.
