Hey, friend!

If you’re like me, then you love to use your vinyl cutting machine for all sorts of projects and crafts. But sometimes, buying all the blanks and supplies can get pricey! That’s why finding affordable options is always a great idea. One place you might not have thought to look for your crafting supplies is Dollar Tree. Yes, you read that right! Dollar Tree offers Cricut DIY supplies at an unbeatable price. Not only can you find vinyl sheets, tools, and, cutting mats, but you can also get creative and find unique items like glassware, notebooks, bags, cups, signs, wood pieces, and even fabric to make over with your vinyl cutting machine. And the best part? Everything is just $1.25 (I don’t have a DT Plus Store yet). So next time you’re in need of Cricut supplies, head to your local Dollar Tree and save some serious cash while unleashing your creativity!

Today, I’ll be sharing what kinds of blanks you can find in Dollar Tree stores (both inside and outside of the crafting aisle) — and showing how to make fun Cricut DIYs at home with them. And if you have another brand of cutting machine (Silhouette, Brother, XTool, Scan N Cut), no worries! You can make these projects, too!

One of my favorites has to be these custom notebooks with a DIY shadow block monogram and other graphics that look WAY more expensive than they were! Don’t they look like a boutique find?

I love sharing my free .PNG and .SVG cut files for you to craft along with me! All you need to do is measure, import, cut, weed, and apply – making these projects quick and easy!

Weeding is the term used to describe the process of removing the excess vinyl from around your design. Or if you’re creating a stencil, remove the parts of the letters you want to stencil.

There are several different types of weeding tools available, and I typically use the Cricut weeding tool. However, I’ve been testing out the Dollar Tree weeding tool and it works pretty well!

If you are weeding something intricate, you’ll need some kind of light source behind your project while you weed (this makes it easier for you to see what you’re doing). And then simply use the hook edge side of your weeding tool—be careful not to poke through any parts that you want to keep! This may take a little practice for beginners but once you get going it shouldn’t take too long at all! Also, if you’d like to see it in action, be sure to watch the video below.

MY BEST TIPS FOR CRICUT BEGINNERS

If you’re new to Cricut crafting, it can be overwhelming to figure out where to start. Here are a few tips to help you get started on your Cricut crafting journey:

  1. Familiarize yourself with your machine: Take some time to read through the manual and watch tutorial videos to understand how your Cricut machine works. This will help you avoid frustration when you start your first project. I also have a full section of posts and videos to help you!
  2. Start with simple projects: Don’t jump into a complex project right away. Begin with simple projects like vinyl decals, greeting cards, or basic home decor items to build your confidence and skills. You don’t need to be at an expert level with your first few projects – it’s all about learning.
  3. Invest in quality materials: Using high-quality materials will give you better results and make your crafting experience more enjoyable. I would suggest investing in good mats and tools. Then you can try different materials to see which brands you like. One of my favorite places to shop is ExpressionsVinyl.com – they have a great selection at great prices. They also run sales all the time!
  4. Join a crafting community: Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have several Cricut crafting groups where you can connect with other beginners and experienced crafters. You can also find tutorials, tips, and project ideas from these communities.
  5. Practice and experiment: Practice makes perfect, and the more you use your Cricut machine, the better you’ll become. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different materials, designs, and techniques to find your crafting style. Dollar Tree supplies really help you learn different techniques and surfaces without spending a ton!

Remember that Cricut crafting is supposed to be fun, so don’t stress about being perfect. Enjoy the creative process and let your imagination run wild!
