After the Christmas décor comes down, my house always feels a little… bare. 🎄➡️🤍
So today I’m sharing a ton of easy, budget-friendly Valentine’s Day DIY decor ideas that add color, charm, and a whole lot of cozy—without spending a fortune or committing to anything permanent.

These projects are perfect if you love Dollar Tree Valentine crafts, paper garlands, felt decor, and simple seasonal styling ideas that can be reused year after year. Let’s dive in, craft buddy. 💕

DIY Conversation Heart Magnets (Using Silicone Molds!)

One of my favorite Valentine’s Day DIYs from this video starts with something you might already have—or can grab cheaply at Michaels: silicone candy molds.

Instead of using them for food, I filled mine with hot glue, let them cool, and popped out adorable conversation heart shapes. Silicone molds release the glue perfectly, making this such an easy craft.

Once the shapes hardened, I:

  • Trimmed off any glue “wispies”
  • Painted them in soft pastel colors
  • Added text using thin acrylic paint markers
  • Glued Dollar Tree magnets on the back

💡 Craft tip: Text like XOXO is much easier to paint than longer phrases. Learn from me here.

These work as fridge magnets, push pins, paper clips—or just loose décor in a bowl.

Paper Valentine’s Day Garlands (3 Ways!)

Paper garlands are having a moment, and I’m here for it. These are inexpensive, beginner-friendly, and perfect for crafting with kids.

1. Heart Paper Chain Garland

Made with simple construction paper strips folded and stapled into heart shapes. This one is:

  • Super quick
  • Great for littles
  • Easy to customize with colors or patterned cardstock

2. Bow Garland from Cardstock

If you know me, you know I love a good bow. 🎀
These paper bows look adorable strung together and cost next to nothing to make.

3. Chunky Paper Chain Garland

This one gives big PEZ candy vibes (in the best way).
Using wider paper strips and an odd number of colors adds depth and makes it feel playful but still styled.

Styling Tip: Layer Your Garlands

When it comes time to decorate, I always:

  1. Start with the chunkiest garland
  2. Layer lighter ones on top
  3. Adjust until it feels balanced (there’s no wrong answer)

I use fishing line to hang garlands so it’s nearly invisible, but Command hooks work just as well.

Felt Valentine’s Day Decor (So Easy & Cozy)

I’ve been deep in my felt era, and Valentine’s Day is perfect for it.

Felt Envelope Garland

Using:

  • Off-white felt
  • Dollar Tree felt heart stickers
  • Baker’s twine

This makes the cutest little envelope garland and works beautifully hung with purse hangers—great if you don’t have nails or hooks.

Felt Branch Decor (Free + Festive!)

Grab branches from your yard (hello, Illinois winters 😅), pop them in a vase, and add felt heart stickers for instant Valentine’s Day charm.

Bonus:
👉 Peel off the hearts later and replace them with shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day.

Temporary Valentine Pillow Hack

Turn any plain pillow into Valentine décor by sticking felt hearts directly on the fabric.
They peel right off when the season’s over—no sewing, no commitment.

Dollar Tree Valentine Table Decor DIY

I fell hard for the watercolor bow napkins at Dollar Tree, so of course I had to DIY with them.

Valentine Charger Plates

  • Separate the napkin layers
  • Mod Podge it to the underside of a clear charger plate
  • Trim and seal

They’re perfect for:

  • Valentine’s Day breakfast
  • Galentine’s brunch
  • Kid-friendly seasonal tablescapes

I also used the same napkins to refresh a Dollar Tree LED candle and wooden heart so everything coordinates without being too matchy.

Sewn Felt Conversation Heart Cookies (Beginner Friendly!)

These felt cookies might look fancy—but I promise they’re not.

I walk you through:

  • Whip stitch
  • Blanket stitch
  • Stuffing
  • Hiding knots cleanly

You can:

  • Use Cricut SVGs (free in my library)
  • Or print templates and cut by hand (also in my library)

They’re inexpensive, cozy to make at night, and perfect for:

  • Garlands
  • Bowls
  • Gift toppers
  • Personalized family décor

✨ Craft buddy tip: These are a great “hands busy, brain resting” project instead of scrolling.
